How to Attract Dark Eyed Junco
A very common winter feeder bird in the United States, the Dark-Eyed Junco is one of the easiest birds to attract during that time of year. The Slate Colored Junco has dark gray upperparts and a white belly (note: females may have brownish tint). Dark Eyed Junco favor millet but will eat a great variety of seed if provided on a platform feeder or on the ground. A steady supply of seed plus a shrubby environment or brush pile for shelter will encourage the Dark-Eyed Junco to stick around through winter. This bird will also make use of a birdbath if provided.
