A Suet Feeder is the cheapest bird feeder but it happens to be one of the most effective at attracting a wide range of birds – many of whom will not visit other types of feeders. A Suet Feeder can be a metal cage, wire mesh, or even a mesh bag that holds Suet and Suet-Mixtures. Birds cling to the sides of the cage or mesh and peck at the Suet until it is all gone. While Suet will need to be replaced frequently, Suet Feeders themselves tend to be quite durable. Hanging a Suet Feeder upside down will discourage Starlings, which may hog the feeder if unobstructed.
